ACADEMIC CAREER

Sergio Conti (Torino, 1948) is Full-professor of Economic Geography at the University of Turin. Ph.D at the London School of Economics and Political Science, he did research in the Eastern European countries, in England, in the United States, in Latin America, dealing with industrial organization and competitiveness. He was also Invited professor at Columbia University in New York, at the University of Cordoba in Argentina, at the Sorbone in Parigi, at the Nippon Institute of Technology, and cooperated with the World Bank, the OCDE, the European Commission. From 1992 to 1998 he had chaired the I.G.U Commission on “The organization of industrial spaces” and, from 2006 to 2010 represented the C.N.R. (Italian Council of Research) in the I.C.S.U. (International Council for Scientific Unions). From 2002 and 2005 he was dean of the Faculty of Economics in Turin, and from 2005 and 2010 Regional Minister for Strategic planning, Territorial policies, Environment and Social housing in the Piedmont Region. From 2002 to 2013 he is also Vice-president of the Italian Geographical Society. Graduated “ad honorem” at the Ben Gurion University, among his publication let’s quote Dopo la città industriale (F.
