ACADEMIC CAREER
Graduated in Geological Science (1960) and Geography (1964) in Rome, University “La Sapienza”, where he became Assistant Professor in 1967, Professor in 1972 and Director of Dpt. of American Studies. In 1994 became full Professor in Viterbo Tuscia University and Director of  Dpt of  Cultural Heritage Studies (2003-2008).
First Secretary of the Association of Italian Geographers (1978-81), member of several Task Forces, Study Groups and Commissions of the International Geographical Union, Director and editor of the Home of Geography website from 2003, and of the IGU Quarterly Newsletter since the beginning (2005).
He presented Paper, Lectures and held Conferences in several Universities in every Continent, and during the Tunis IGU Congress (2008) has been elected as Vice President of the International Geographical Union.
