ACADEMIC CAREER

He has spent his academic career in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy in various positions, among which President of the Degree Course in  Geography (from 2002 to 2011). During his involvement

-  Bachelor Degree in Humanities (with honors) at the Università di Parma (1993), with a thesis on the literary landscapes of the middle river Po valley.
- Master of Arts in Italian literature at the University of Virginia, with a thesis on the geographical content of two poetry collection by Giulia Niccolai (Greenwich and Nuovo Greenwich (1996).
- Ph.D in Geography at the University of Padua, with a thesis on tourist navigation on the middle river Po valley (dissertation director: professor Dario Croce)

ACADEMIC POSITIONS AND TEACHING ACTIVITIES

- Teaching Assistant of Italian language - University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA, USA) (three semesters 1994-1995).
- Lector and Lecturer of Italian language - The University of Chicago (Chicago, IL, USA) (twelve quarters between 1996 and 2003).
- Adjunct Professor in “Human Geography” and in “Fundamentals of General Geography” at the University of Eastern Piedmont in Vercelli, Biella, and Domodossola (in the academic years 2002-2003, 2003-2004 and 2004-2005).
- Lecturer in Geography – Università degli Studi di Parma (2005-2010) (teaching the following courses: “Geography”, “Cultural Geography”, “Geography of Emilia-Romagna”)
- Associate Professor in Geography – Università degli Studi di Parma (2010-present) (teaching the following courses: “Geography” and “Cultural Geography”
