ACADEMIC CAREER

He teaches "GIS and Geotechnologies" and "GIS Applications for Geographical Analysis" at the
"Sapienza" University of Rome, in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. He is in charge of
Geographical Information System (GIS) for the Italian Association of Geography Teachers (AIIG) and is
the Vice-President of the Rome section. He is member of the Scientific Committee of the Journal "
Semestrale di Studi e Ricerche di Geografia". He has taken part in national and international projects
and has collaborated with various research institutes; in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, at the
"Sapienza" University of Rome, and in 2009 and 2010 was Member of the Evaluation Unit of the
same Faculty. In 2011 he was awarded the "Italian Geographic Society" for the methodological
originality of his scientific production and the value of results and awarded a plaque of the President
of the Republic. Moreover, in 2012 he won the selection among 40 researchers of the Faculty of
Letters and Philosophy, at the "Sapienza" University of Rome, for the assignment of one research
grant, with the project: "Geographical analysis of volcanic risk. Demographic, social-economic and
historical-archeological aspects analysed with GIS".
